Virtual encounter of secular Augustinian fraternities
A Congress of the Augustinian Secular Fraternities of Latin America initially organized from October 7 to 11, 2020 in Lima took place virtually from October 9 to 11, 2020. The purpose of this meeting was to follow what was proposed at the previous Congress in Colombia, that of achieving a Union in Latin America as one soul and one heart towards God, hence its motto: "Called by his Grace: Communion of Life, Communion of Goods and Communion of Spirit." The presentations on different topics by the Prior General, Fr. Alejandro Moral Antón, the Assistant General for Latin America Fr. Alexander Lam, Monsignor Robert Prevost OSA, Bishop of Chiclayo and Administrator of the diocese of Callao, Monsignor Edison Farfán OSA, Bishop Prelate from the Prelature of Chuquibambilla, Carmen Villanueva Cueva, Oscar Becerra and Luis Arana, offered us a lot of light and encouraged us on a path of renewal of life and witness as Augustinian laity in today's world. Among the outstanding moments of prayer were: the Lectio Divina with the Sisters of the Incarnation Monastery; the Angelus organized by the Fraternities of Iquitos; and the devotional participation in Eucharistic Adoration organized by Friar Diomer Vásquez OSA. The encounter concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist from the Chapel of San Agustín school in Lima, presided over by the Provincial Superior of the Province of Peru, Friar Hernanis Díaz OSA. We were able to make a database of 60 of the 68 Fraternities of Latin America with an enrollment of more than 750 people, a participation of 352 participants, of which many had more than 10 members. Among the wonderful things to highlight of this virtual encounter is the fervent desire of all the participants to continue united as a fraternity of Latin America.
