Annual Augustinian pilgrimage to Clare Priory - 13th May 2018
On Sunday 13th May, coaches full of parishioners took up the invitation to journey to Clare Priory in the beautiful countryside of Suffolk for the annual Augustinian Pilgrimage.
Some had never been to Clare before and for others it felt like home. We began our journey separately and we may have had different reasons for attending but our faith brought us together united as a community.
We arrived in Clare where we were welcomed by Fr Stef, Fr David and Fr Robert. We were blessed with beautiful sunshine and the day was truly enjoyed by all.
We arrived back home feeling relaxed, refreshed and appreciating all those who made Clare Priory such a wonderful place.
Clare Priory is a special place and anyone who visits can’t help but be taken in by its beauty and tranquillity.
For the Pilgrims on Sunday 13 May it offered: * A chance to take part in the rosary procession to the shrine of
our Lady of Good Counsel and light candles for loved ones and
offer prayers for various intentions. * An opportunity to soak up the lovely relaxing music as we took
part in the reconciliation service, adoration and confessions if
we felt inclined. * A chance to refresh the soul in the lovely surroundings while
we shared our lunch or enjoyed the delicious homemade
cakes. * An opportunity to make new friends or catch up with old ones.
* A chance to take part in the final celebration of the Mass and
all the blessings God promises. * A chance to visit the first home of the Augustinian Friars in
Britain knowing that you have walked the route established by those first pilgrims to Clare in 1248.
The date for next year’s Pilgrimage is set for May 12th 2019.
Prepare your visit to Clare Priory.
